Karina

Helen now retired has experience through a long nursing career and many years supporting her family and friends with end of life issues. In 2016 she commenced End of Life Doula Training with Life Options. Helen now volunteers in a hospice sharing her passion in memoir writing, caring for the carer and creating a beautiful space in palliative, death and after care. Helen long ago envisioned using silk veils as a gentle and meaningful way to honour this phase of life.

In 2021, Helen approached Karina with the idea to create “Silks to Dye for” a project inspired by the needs of the palliative and death care community. The vision was to craft something meaningful and beautiful, not a traditional shroud, but to produce delicate silk covers/veils that can float and drape, easily adjusted to honour the individuality of each person. Karina, a passionate artist, hand dyes each length of silk with her signature ombre technique blending colours to match the unique spirit of the individual. Whether a single tone, or a rich swirl of hues, each silk is thoughtfully created with intention to reflect personal memories and emotion

Together they combined their expertise to create “ SilksTo Dye For” An alternative service, offering biodegradable hand dyed veils. Their mission is simple, to provide a beautiful, personal way to say goodbye with love and colour.
